Godzilla x Kong: Two Worlds Combined

Have you ever watched a giant lizard and ape work together? Well, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a movie that recently came out on March 29, 2024 and can be watched in theaters now. Two Farrington High School students: Joaquin Panoy and John Matthew Apresto, were asked about why they watched the movie and how they felt.

Before reviewing the movie, let’s learn

about the history of Godzilla and King Kong. Godzilla, or Gojira, originates from Japan and was a creation of nuclear tests run by the Japanese (Pfeiffer, 2010). Movies about Godzilla were produced by the company Toho until mass media company Legendary Pictures took over.

Unlike Godzilla, King Kong was first introduced by American film companies in 1933; RKO Pictures and Warner Bros to be specific. For a while, the Japanese started to incorporate Kong as Godzilla’s enemy in a few films until Kong eventually disappeared from the films (Ritchey, 2021). Kong and Godzilla were sworn enemies until the installment of Godzilla vs Kong where they decided to become kings of different Earths; Godzilla for surface Earth and Kong for Hollow Earth.

According to Apresto, he decided to watch this movie because he was a huge fan of the

previous installment Godzilla vs. Kong, which came out in 2021. On the other hand, Panoy states that his family invited him to watch it with them. Family bonding!

“I would rate it a 10/10 because of its incredible CGI, amazing story and reference, as well as its funny moments here and there.” Apresto seems to have enjoyed this particular movie.

Both have heavily suggested that others watch this incredible movie. On the contrary, Panoy rates the movie a 7.5/10 because according to him, “action scenes were entertaining, along with the CGI.”

Both Apresto and Panoy recommend this movie to students and faculty. Apresto states that the movie contains amazing fight scenes, family connections, and accurate references to the previous Godzilla film. Panoy simply states, “If you want to watch big monsters fighting each other, then I highly recommend this movie!”

To end things off, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a recent film, prequel to the installment Godzilla vs Kong. It seems as if fellow Farrington students enjoy this movie and want others to watch it as well. Well, what are you waiting for? Go watch it!
