On February 27, 2024, the school administration closed the lunch kiosk at J-building due to students leaving trash around campus. The other lunch kiosks around campus are still in place, but maybe shutting down because of students littering.
Vice Principal Lisa Joy Andres says the reason why one of the kiosks was taken away. “It’s trash around campus that is irresponsible and disrespectful to others on campus. We should not expect custodians to clean up after our student meal trash,” said Andres. She also states, “If students can understand and uphold their responsibility to maintain a clean and respectful campus environment, it not only fosters a sense of pride and ownership but also demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of our school community.” If student littering persists and is not being taken care of by students, the school administration might decide to remove the kiosks around campus entirely and allow students to eat lunch only at the school cafeteria.
This could deter students from eating lunch entirely. However, if students start to show progress by picking up their trash, there might be a possibility of not having to worry if the lunch kiosk will be taken away.
